Canada Global (Web News) In light of an upcoming conference between the two countries in Cairo on nuclear proliferation, Russia’s deputy foreign minister Sergei Ryabkov said that it is not ruling out more high-level talks with the United States on “strategic stability.”
Ryabkov was cited as saying, “If the Americans demonstrate interest and willingness, we will not reject.”
The two most powerful nuclear nations in the world, Russia and the United States, refer to a reduction in the risk of nuclear conflict as “strategic stability.”
From November 29 to December 6 in Cairo, Egypt, Russian and US officials are scheduled to meet to discuss the New START nuclear weapons reduction deal.
However, Ryabkov had before stated that there was nothing to discuss with the US over Ukraine.
“No, there isn’t anything to discuss with them regarding Ukraine. Given the very divergent stances, there can simply be no communication, let alone negotiations,” he was earlier cited as saying by Interfax.
