Imran Khan granted relief in judge threat case

Canada Global (Web News) A district and sessions court changed Imran Khan’s arrest warrant from being non-bailable to being bailable on Friday in relation to allegations that he threatened a female magistrate while speaking to a crowd of people last year.

Further Sessions The judgement was delivered by Judge Faizan Haider Gilani after being reserved earlier in the day. Judge rejected the PTI’s petition for an extension and suspension of the arrest warrant.

Before the judge reserved his or her decision, the special prosecutor Rizwan Abbasi and the former prime minister’s attorney Gohar Ali had presented their cases.

Mr. Ali requested an extension and suspension of the arrest warrants until his client’s appearance in the Toshakhana case before a court in Islamabad on March 30. The PTI attorney declared he will submit a request to modify the dates of the arrest warrants. The date for arrest warrants is March 29, therefore it’s odd that you’re asking for March 30, the court observed.

Arguments should be made on a petition asking for the arrest warrants to be suspended, the prosecutor said. The prosecutor said that Mr. Khan never showed up for the hearing on the threat case when the judge questioned whether he had ever appeared in court. He said that the PTI chairman’s power of attorney had not even been presented on his behalf.

The judge reserved his decision following the hearing and is expected to make it public soon.
