Biden declares emergency for California due to winter storms

Canada Global (Web News) At least 12 people have died in the previous 10 days due to storms in California, which have also caused hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses to lose electricity. U.S. President Joe Biden has allowed the state to declare an emergency.

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is given permission by the emergency declaration to organise disaster relief activities and mobilise emergency resources, according to a statement from the White House.

The past week has seen a variety of severe weather events, including high wind gusts that overturned vehicles, flooding in small coastal towns in northern California, and a storm surge that wiped down a pier in Santa Cruz.
