Fire at Toronto Plaza Hotel, one dead

Canada Global(Web News) A fire broke out in a unit on the fourth floor of the Toronto Plaza Hotel on Monday morning, killing one person.

When the fire crew pulled the man out of the fire, he was not breathing and was pronounced dead a short time later. It is not yet clear how the fire started at the hotel, located at 1677 Wilson Avenue near Jane Street. The fire was confined to one unit and was quickly brought under control. Some residents were temporarily evacuated and placed in buses.
The building has been used to shelter homeless people since 2016. According to the city’s website, these homeless people include refugees and refugee claimants. The case of sudden death here last Saturday is also being investigated by the police. But police say that death is not suspicious. In that case, a person was found dead in a parked bus.
