Rana Sanaullah says 33 people handed over to military for trial over May 9 riots

Canada Global (Web News) According to Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, just six FIRs out of 499 cases could be heard in military tribunals because 33 persons implicated in the May 9 riots had been turned over to the military for trial.

He stated at a press conference that “14 people from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and 19 people from Punjab will be tried in military courts.”

The minister claimed that the offenders were suspected of damaging military facilities during demonstrations following Imran Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. “The question is how they got there,” Mr. Sanaullah stated in reference to the individuals who violated property rights and penetrated critical defence installations.

Mr. Sanaullah dispelled the myth that all trials would be held in military tribunals by stating that the military will look at the cases but not take cognizance of them. If the Army Act or the Official Secrets Act apply, the military tribunals will determine this.

The interior minister claims that around 4,000 persons were detained in Pakistan as a result of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 2,588 of whom were in Punjab and 1,099 in KP.

He claimed that Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, had made it plain that people who were innocent in connection with the violent protests that took place in the nation on May 9 wouldn’t face punishment. The minister stated, “The premier is focused on this that no innocent should be harmed.”

Police fail to arrest Parvez Elahi despite repeated attempts

Canada Global (Web News) Parvez Elahi, president of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was not apprehended by police on Thursday, but they maintained a vigilance surrounding his residence on Zahoor Elahi Road till the final reports arrived on Friday morning.

Following the cancellation of Parvez Elahi’s bail by an anti-corruption court, a substantial police presence arrived at his home. At the Ghalib Market police station, a complaint was made against the PTI president for meddling in state issues. He is also accused of abusing his position of authority and wasting development funds.

According to sources, a sizable police detachment, including DIG Operations Sadiq Ali Dogar, Model Town SP Operations Ammara Sherazi, and SSP Operations Sohaib Ashraf, arrived at Parvez Elahi’s home.

Parvez Elahi’s legal team notified the authorities that he was not at home and that they could inspect the property if they showed them the arrest warrant.

According to the PTI president’s spokeswoman, police searched the entire residence but were unsuccessful because Mr. Elahi wasn’t there.

All routes leading to Mr. Elahi’s home, according to sources, were shut down. In addition, houses and a private school close to Mr. Elahi’s home were searched by police, according to the sources.

In a case involving alleged corruption in development projects, a Lahore anti-corruption court already denied Mr. Elahi’s request for bail.

According to Mr. Elahi’s attorney, the former chief minister was unable to attend court because of chest problems. The prosecution claimed that the medical certificate presented in court by Parvez Elahi’s attorney was a forgery.

Further Sessions While hearing the case brought by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) against the former prime minister for hiding gifts he received from the Toshakhana, Judge Humayun Dilawar approved the petition.

In today’s hearing, he also entered a plea asking for Imran Khan’s exemption, claiming that his life was in danger due to security concerns.

The judge stated that if the PTI leader was unable to travel to Islamabad, he might still participate in the hearing through video link.

Judge Dilawar granted the exemption plea following the hearing of the arguments, and on May 5 he called for arguments about the admissibility of the ECP case.

Imran Khan’s behaviour could push elections even beyond Oct 8: Rana Sanaullah

Canada Global (Web News) Rana Sanaullah, the federal interior minister, stated on Monday that if PTI leader Imran Khan kept acting the way he did, elections might not even be held on October 8.

The minister had earlier asserted that the National Assembly would dissolve on August 12 or 16 and elections would be held on October 8 under a caretaker regime. Despite the SC’s order to hold polls in Punjab on May 14 and the ECP’s subsequent decision to hold elections, he had nevertheless made this statement.

Speaking to a private TV, he claimed that problems would have been handled if Mr. Khan had discussed them with us.

In the future, any party may seek elections after dissolving assemblies if we succumb to the PTI chief’s behaviour, he continued.

The minister stated that it was the duty of the Supreme Court (SC) to uphold the constitution, and suggested that NA Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf speak with CJP Umar Ata Bandial. We don’t anticipate CJP Bandial to be obstinate, he continued.

He mockingly suggested that the court ought to call the entire parliament and invalidate it. “Funds will not be granted,” he continued, “if the parliament rejects the bill to provide funding to the ECP for Punjab elections.”

Mr. Sana continued by asserting that the parliament did not have the right to interfere and that the Supreme Court did not even have the authority to overturn. He continued, “If the court does so, it will be equivalent to abrogating the constitution.”

The Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Bill 2023 was not authorised to be sent to the highest court, according to President Dr. Arif Alvi.

Imran Khan’s nikkah to Bushra Bibi was made twice

Canada Global (Web News) PTI leader Imran Khan’s nikkah ceremony was observed twice, according to core committee member and nikkah-khawan Mufti Saeed Khan.

Speaking to a private TV station, he claimed that Mr. Khan’s first nikkah contract with Bushra Bibi violated Shariah because she was observing iddah, which is a period of four months and ten days during which a Muslim woman must wait before getting remarried after her marriage is dissolved by divorce, khula, or the death of her husband. Because I was unaware of the circumstances at the time, he continued, “I deemed it unlawful and repeated the Nikkah ceremony.”

After Ms Bibi took khula from her prior husband Khawar Manika, Mr. Khan had previously wedded her.

Imran Khan was not hit by four full-bullets but pieces and shards: Forensic report

Canada Global (Web News) According to a forensic report made public by the Punjab government on Monday, Imran Khan, the head of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was struck by three fragments of bullets and a metal shard rather than four entire rounds.

Dr. Gulzar Ahmad, a former medical superintendent, claimed in a TV interview that the investigation only mentioned remnants of full-bullets. In total, 14 shots were fired, of which 12 were fired from the accused Naveed’s 30-bore handgun and two were fired from a different SMG rifle, the source continued.

He claimed that one of the shots purportedly struck Moazzam from behind while the other shots struck different people. According to the report, neither a sniper nor shots fired from all three sides, he continued.

PML-N In response to the findings, Senator Massadik Masood Malik claimed that Mr. Imran was continuously lying and that he had purposefully inflated the amount of shots that were fired at him. In political meetings, “no one should be shot at, and firing at Maryam Nawaz and others is condemnable,” he continued.

According to Umar Cheema, advisor to Punjab Chief Minister, Mr Imran’s security guard was not involved in the incident, and that propaganda about the incident was being spread on social media. “It is a well-known fact that there were three shooters,” he added.

In response to Musaddik Malik’s remarks, he stated that he was unaware of which report Mr Malik was referring to, and that we must wait until the JIT submits its report. “Your report is not yet complete,” he added.

Earlier, Imran Khan and other party leaders, including Senator Faisal Javed, were shot at the long march container, and one was killed. According to reports, the shooting occurred during the long march reception camp at Allahwala Chowk in Wazirabad.

Fifty percent of PTI parliamentarians don’t want to resign

Canada Global (Web News) According to PTI MP Nasir Khan Musazai, 50% of the party’s National Legislature members do not wish to resign, while Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi opposes dissolving the provincial assembly.

A day earlier, Shafay Hussain, the son of Chaudhry Shujaat, president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), asserted that CM Elahi initially requested his father contact the PML-N but then sided with PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

Elahi appeared to be returning a few weeks ago, but the PML-Q leader said that he instead joined Imran Khan.

Musazai stated that PTI lawmakers want to join other political parties in the meanwhile. “Imran Khan allegedly killed himself by attacking his facilitators. He raised our expectations for 2018,” the parliamentarians claimed.

In his tirade of condemnation, the PTI leader, he continued, “did not spare anybody, including the establishment, judges, and politicians.”

The former prime minister, who was removed from office in April 2022 following a no-confidence vote in the National Assembly, has been openly and repeatedly criticising other military officials, including the former chief of army staff General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa, for failing to continue to support his administration.

The lower house of parliament member continued by stating that while the former prime minister was supported for his Riyasat-e-Madinah rhetoric, he was unable to fulfil it. He claimed that “only ulemas (religious clerics) could accomplish such work.”
