Police fail to arrest Parvez Elahi despite repeated attempts

Canada Global (Web News) Parvez Elahi, president of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was not apprehended by police on Thursday, but they maintained a vigilance surrounding his residence on Zahoor Elahi Road till the final reports arrived on Friday morning.

Following the cancellation of Parvez Elahi’s bail by an anti-corruption court, a substantial police presence arrived at his home. At the Ghalib Market police station, a complaint was made against the PTI president for meddling in state issues. He is also accused of abusing his position of authority and wasting development funds.

According to sources, a sizable police detachment, including DIG Operations Sadiq Ali Dogar, Model Town SP Operations Ammara Sherazi, and SSP Operations Sohaib Ashraf, arrived at Parvez Elahi’s home.

Parvez Elahi’s legal team notified the authorities that he was not at home and that they could inspect the property if they showed them the arrest warrant.

According to the PTI president’s spokeswoman, police searched the entire residence but were unsuccessful because Mr. Elahi wasn’t there.

All routes leading to Mr. Elahi’s home, according to sources, were shut down. In addition, houses and a private school close to Mr. Elahi’s home were searched by police, according to the sources.

In a case involving alleged corruption in development projects, a Lahore anti-corruption court already denied Mr. Elahi’s request for bail.

According to Mr. Elahi’s attorney, the former chief minister was unable to attend court because of chest problems. The prosecution claimed that the medical certificate presented in court by Parvez Elahi’s attorney was a forgery.
