Canada Global(Web News)One person died after a car crashed in Lake Ontario, while another was hospitalized.
A news release from Toronto police said that around 3:30 p.m., a vehicle with two occupants was speeding southbound on Cherry Street. When the vehicle reached the Lake Ontario Bridge, which is under construction, the driver lost control of the vehicle and the vehicle plunged into the water under the bridge.
Toronto Fire said both men were able to get out of the vehicle, but one was not able to get out of the water. An immediate search and rescue operation was launched by fire crews to locate the man, who was located a short time later and sent to EMS, where he was pronounced dead.
Toronto paramedics said the second person suffered minor injuries and is in stable condition. The vehicle could not be pulled out of the water yet. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.
