Imran Khan says Jail Bharo movement aims at countering violation of rights, economic crisis

Canada Global (Web News) Imran Khan, the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), announced on Wednesday that he was starting the “Jail Bharo” movement in protest of “the onslaught on fundamental rights and economic crisis.”

Before the judicial arrest drive began later today, the former prime minister stated on Twitter that there were two key goals for the campaign that sought to achieve “Haqeeqi Azadi” [true freedom].

He added, “One, it is a peaceful, non-violent protest against the attack on our constitutionally-guaranteed fundamental rights,” pointing out that the PTI leaders were the targets of bogus corruption charges and FIRs.

He stated that the drive was being started to protest the alleged torture of PTI leader Shahbaz Gill and Azam Swati, attacks on journalists, and social media people.
