Canada Global (Web News) The PTI Chairman Imran Khan declared on Monday that General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa was “solely responsible for the country’s ongoing political and economic issues,” including his removal from office in April of this year, in yet another harsh declaration against the former army head.
The former prime minister claimed that Gen (retd) Bajwa was in charge of the National Accountability Bureau while speaking to international reporters at his Zaman Park mansion in Lahore (NAB). He asserted that despite his resistance, the old army chief gave the current leaders NRO, or reprieve in corruption cases.
Gen. (Ret.) Bajwa, according to the former prime minister, initially did not object to his efforts to hold corrupt officials accountable, but “ultimately asked me to focus on the economy and to shift away from accountability,” he said.
Imran highlighted that the PTI and the PML-Q were two autonomous political organisations and that as a result, the latter had its own different policy on Gen (retd) Bajwa. Imran was responding to Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi’s statement favouring the former army chief.
“The Punjab Chief Minister has handed over a summary to me, and I will send this recommendation to the Punjab Governor on Friday,” he said.
