Electricity prices likely to rise for KP consumers

Canada Global (Web News) The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority has received a tariff appeal from the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) asking for a rise in electricity costs.

In order to recoup Rs62.88 billion, the power supply company has asked for a Rs1 per unit hike in the electricity charge for customers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In response to the salary and benefits received by Pesco personnel, it would recoup Rs 16 billion, while in response to post-retirement payments, it would recoup Rs 9 billion. Additionally, it will recover Rs. 390 million for travel expenses paid to Pesco personnel as well as Rs. 280 million for vehicle repairs.

The Pesco petition would be heard by Nepra on April 5.
