Canada Global(Web News) Brazilian scientists say they have developed a vaccine that can treat cocaine addiction and its derivative crack.
The vaccine, called Calyx coca (which has shown clear results in animal tests), activates the body’s immune system to prevent cocaine and crack from reaching the brain. The researchers involved in the study hope that the vaccine will help addicts by reducing their demand. If so, it will be the first time a vaccine has been used to treat cocaine addiction.

This vaccine works by making antibodies in the patient’s immune system. These antibodies bind to the cocaine molecules in the blood, causing them to become so large that they cannot reach the part of the brain that produces large amounts of dopamine due to the drug.
