Ukraine claims that “territorial integrity” is crucial to talks with Russia.

Canada Global (Web News) According to a senior security official, the return of all Ukrainian territory that has been captured is Kyiv’s fundamental requirement before beginning talks with Russia about ending the conflict.

The National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine’s secretary, Oleksiy Danilov, stated on Tuesday that the Ukrainian side also required the “assurance” of contemporary air defences, aircraft, tanks, and long-range missiles.

After Russia’s invasion in late February, Kyiv has urged its Western backers for more weapons on numerous occasions.

Danilov tweeted that the restoration of Ukrainian territorial integrity was the president of Ukraine’s principal demand.

“Guarantee: sophisticated aircraft, long-range missiles, tanks, and air defence. Strategy: taking initiative. Before being launched, Russian missiles must be destroyed in the air, on land, and at sea, he stated.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the president of Ukraine, stated in his evening speech on Monday that he was open to “serious” dialogue with Russia to restore Ukraine’s boundaries. Danilov made his comments shortly after Zelenskyy’s statement.

In addition, he asked that those accountable for alleged war crimes be brought to justice and sought for compensation following catastrophic Russian attacks.

After the Washington Post reported that the United States had informally urged Ukrainian officials to demonstrate an openness to talks with its neighbour, speculation of a negotiated conclusion to the war has increased recently.

In light of worries that Kyiv would soon lose international backing if it continues to steadfastly oppose negotiations, US officials allegedly urge Ukraine to assume the moral high ground and appear more engaged in negotiations.
