Investigators say the 76-year-old woman was walking in the area of McLean Avenue and Nelson Road in Scarborough around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday when an assailant approached the woman from behind and shot her several times in the face with a pellet gun. Shot and escaped. The woman was taken to the hospital with injuries and was released after treatment and was resting at her home Thursday morning, police said.
A police source said officers arrested the suspect at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at a house near the scene of the attack. With the help of security cameras installed in the area, detectives were able to trace the alleged assailant. Investigators say the motive for the attack is still unknown.
