It uses a robot to surgically implant a brain that controls the intention of movement. The system consists of a computer chip attached to thin flexible threads that are connected to the brain by the robot.
Robots remove a small part of the skull, attach the chip’s threadlike electrodes to a specific part of the brain, sew the part of the skull together, and finally leave only a scar where the skin was cut. Elon Musk said that the procedure is done within 30 minutes and does not require general anesthesia while the patient is sent home the same day.
