Record breaking cold snap in Alberta.

Canada Global (Web News) Alberta’s latest wave of winter weather has set new daytime temperature records across the province, including Calgary.

Environment and Climate Change Canada says much of central and southern Alberta has been affected by heavy snow and blowing snow on Monday.

The daytime temperature at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary fell to -22.5 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, breaking the previous record of -19 degrees Celsius.

Among communities in Alberta with new daily minimum temperatures, the coldest was Bow Valley, which dropped to -31.7 degrees Celsius, breaking the previous record of -28.9 degrees Celsius.

Bow Valley Provincial Park

A new record of -31.7 degrees Celsius

The previous record of -28.9 degrees Celsius was set in 1945.

Records have been held in this area since 1928.

Calgary (Olympic Park)

A new record of -22.5 degrees Celsius

The old record of -19C was set in 1986.

Records have been held in this area since 1984.

Cochran

A new record of -27.3 degrees Celsius

The previous record of -19.0 C was set in 1986.

Records have been held in this area since 1984.

A new record of -26C

The old record of -20 C was set in 1986.

The record for this area has been kept since 1976.

Meanwhile, Breton equaled its previous record of -23.3 degrees Celsius set in 1940.
