Federal Government To Pay $362 Million For Asylum Seekers: Mark Miller

Canada Global(Web News) The federal government is spending an additional $362 million to help provinces and cities arrange housing for temporary asylum seekers. But Ontario says it won’t work with less funding.

Immigration Minister Mark Miller announced the aid on Wednesday. He said the federal government had to make this decision because of the increase in the number of asylum seekers across Canada. He also said that there is still a lot to be done in this regard. He said that this program is also important because it will help people to get a roof over their heads in such low temperatures.

He also said that it needs reforms and it will be necessary to work in this direction in the coming months. Miller said it is the responsibility of provincial and municipal governments to provide housing and assistance for asylum seekers, but the burden of such financial assistance from the federal government has been reduced over time.
