30-Hour Police Standoff Ends In Calgary, Gunman Shot Dead

 Canada Global(Web News)A standoff between Calgary police and an armed man in the southeast community of Penbrook Meadows has ended and authorities have confirmed that the suspect was shot.

According to police, the situation in the 300 block of Pennswood Way Southeast began Thursday afternoon and escalated around 8:30 Friday evening. Shots were fired by officers including members of the tactical team.
The accused could not escape the bullet.
The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team will investigate the matter further.

Residents displaced from neighboring homes have been allowed to return and roads in the area have been reopened as the threat to public safety has passed.
Calgary Police Service Chief Mark Neufeld said at a news conference Saturday morning that we used multiple tactics and resources.
