Germany will issue emergency visas to Turkish, Syrian earthquake victims

Canada Global (Web News) German earthquake victims from Turkey and Syria who have relatives residing in Germany will be granted three-month visas, the interior minister of Germany announced on Saturday.

We aim to remove all obstacles so that Turkish or Syrian families living in Germany can bring their direct family members home from the disaster region, said German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser in a statement to the daily tabloid Bild.

The devastating earthquake has claimed the lives of more than 25,000 individuals.
According to Faeser, those who meet the requirements can apply for standard visas that will be immediately issued and valid for three months.

The joint endeavour with the foreign ministry will enable victims to find shelter and receive medical treatment in Germany, she added.
