Court sends Azam Swati on 14-day judicial remand

Canada Global (Web News) Court sends Azam Swati on 14-day judicial remand in controversial tweet case.

In a case involving contentious tweets directed at high military personnel two days before the end of his physical remand, a local court in Islamabad issued PTI Senior Vice President Azam Swati a 14-day judicial remand and committed him to Adiala Jail.

On Sunday, Swati was taken into custody by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for the second time in connection with the contentious Twitter issue. On the same day, the PTI senator appeared in court before Magistrate Waqas Ahmed Raja.

The judge agreed to a two-day physical remand of Swati following hearings from the FIA and her attorneys. On November 29, the court granted the FIA’s plea to extend Swati’s physical detention for an extra four days.

However, the FIA requested an end to the PTI leader’s physical remand in a court appeal. The FIA informed the court that their inquiries were complete and said the PTI leader did not need to conduct any additional inquiries.

The court agreed to the FIA’s request to place the PTI leader on judicial remand.
