What Cases Will Nawaz Sharif Face On His Return Home?

Canada Global(Web News)Leader of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is returning home today after four years, after returning home he will have to face various cases.

Nawaz Sharif will face trial along with Asif Zardari and Yusuf Raza Gilani as accused in the NAB reference of taking a Mercedes car from Tosha Khana on his return home.

The former prime minister will also have to file appeals in the Islamabad High Court to quash the sentences handed down by the accountability court in the Avenfield and Al-Azizia Steel Mills references.

The High Court has already acquitted the co-accused Maryam Nawaz and Captain retired Safdar in the Avenfield reference.

After the Panama JIT investigation, NAB filed 3 references against Nawaz Sharif in the accountability court, Judge Muhammad Bashir of the accountability court sentenced him to 10 years imprisonment in the Avenfield reference.

In the same reference, the co-accused Maryam Nawaz was sentenced to 7 years in prison while retired Captain Safdar was sentenced to 1 year in prison.

Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Arshad Malik sentenced Nawaz Sharif to 7 years imprisonment in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills reference, while he was acquitted in the Flagship reference.

Before Nawaz Sharif went abroad for treatment, both the appeals against the sentence were heard in the Islamabad High Court and the sentences were suspended, but the appeals were dismissed for non-compliance due to being abroad.

The court wrote in the judgment that when the appellant returns, he can apply for revival of the appeals against the conviction.

Nawaz Sharif will have to wait for the verdict after resuming his appeals, but his sentence will be suspended in the meantime.

In March 2020, NAB filed a Tosha Khana reference against Nawaz Sharif while he was out of the country. In this case, co-accused Asif Zardari and Yusuf Raza Gilani were charged, but Nawaz Sharif did not appear in court

Nawaz Sharif will also have to face this reference in the trial court on his return home.
