According to sources, a deal to sell weapons worth more than $100 billion to Saudi Arabia will be officially announced during Trump’s planned visit in May. Official spokespeople for the US White House and Saudi Arabia immediately declined to comment on the news. The proposed package comes at a time when the administration of former US President Joe Biden had unsuccessfully tried to finalize a conditional defense agreement with Saudi Arabia, for which the Biden administration had urged Saudi Arabia to normalize relations with Israel. It should be noted that US President Trump will visit Saudi Arabia, the Emirates and Qatar from May 13 to 16.
