Canada Global(Web News) More than 40 groups in Alberta issued a joint statement Saturday calling on the province to halt a proposed parental rights policy, saying the policy would disproportionately harm the transgender community.
A statement signed by 47 advocacy organizations and businesses in Alberta calls for an immediate halt to the policy. The groups also called on the province to consult with the transgender community and create new regulations based on established medical practices and evidence.

The revelations come after Alberta Premier Danielle Smith posted a video on social media Wednesday saying the government could ask parents to change their name and surname if a child 15 or younger changes their name and surname at school. Information and consent will be required.
