Canada Global(Web News)Toronto City Council voted to rename Young Dundas Square and Dundas subway stations.
Council voted 17 to 4 in favor of renaming Dundas Station and Dundas West Station. It was 19 to 2 in favor of changing the name of Young Dundas Square to Sankofa Square. Sankofa is a Ghanaian word meaning “go back and get.” It is also expected that Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) and the TTC will work together to rename Dundas Station as TMU Station. Ryerson is largely credited with masterminding the system of separating indigenous children from their families.
