Video sharing platform Tik Tok is a controversial platform globally but the content on it cannot be ignored. Website Search Engine Land pointed out that Google Search has started extracting information from Tik Tok and its own. Results have started to be displayed in a prominent position.
Tik Tok videos have always appeared in Google search results but never had a clear place for them before. Now Tik Tok videos and their captions are featured in Google’s AI-powered Search Generative Experience (SGE) with Google’s Featured Snippets. I have started to appear.
This move (or attempt) by Google is an attempt to attract young users. In the past two years, it has become clear that Generation Z (children born between 1997 and 2012) users are using TikTok as an effective search engine.
It should be noted that TikTok recently added a button that links Google search results to TikTok search results.
