Emergency crews were called to the area of ​​Bayview Avenue and 16th Avenue shortly after midnight.
York Regional Police said the fire broke out in a vacant house on Duncan Road, followed by two nearby houses engulfed in flames. The fire was brought under control by 5:30 a.m. A large number of emergency crews remained in the area.

The house where the fire started was completely destroyed while two other houses were also severely damaged. People living in other adjoining houses were also evacuated as a precaution but were later allowed to go to their homes. Meanwhile, no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire has not been ascertained. The Ontario Fire Marshal has been notified.
