Canada Global(Web News)Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that provinces have always had the ability to come up with their own alternative plans, including a minimum carbon price.
Trudeau said at a news conference in Scarborough, Ont., that all the premiers and opposition leaders who are busy complaining about the cost of pollution but offering no concrete alternatives are just playing politics
. There is an opportunity to deliver plans as long as they are fighting climate change at the same level we are asking all other Canadians to do. This is what the federal backstop is. But we are not seeing detailed plans on this from the premiers. They will try to complain about it and make a political game out of it.
Carbon pricing is expected to contribute a third of Canada’s emissions reductions for 2030, Trudeau said, and the rebates are scheduled to be reviewed on April 15.
