Canada Global(Web News)Ontario Provincial Police say they are looking for a driver who shot and killed an officer during a traffic stop in North York early Friday morning. The incident happened around 3 a.m. in the area of Lawrence Avenue and Allen Road.
According to police, officers first spotted a white SUV in the westbound lane of Highway 401 near Allen Road.
Investigators said the vehicle was traveling southbound on Allen Road and exited the highway at Lawrence Avenue.
A traffic stop was initiated in the right lane of the Lawrence Avenue off-ramp, during which the driver exited the SUV and fired a gunshot at the officer before fleeing the area on foot, police said. The officer was not injured and the suspect has not yet been arrested, police said.
