Canada Global(Web News) A former member of the youth performance group run by the Calgary Stampede says he expects to feel safe on the day after three decades of having sex with teenagers. The rapist has been granted parole.
The decision by the Parole Board of Canada last month came as a shock to the accused, who had to testify before Phillip Herrima partially pleaded guilty at his trial in 2018.
Herrima pleaded guilty to eight charges, including sexual assault, sexual exploitation, solicitation and making of child pornography while at the Young Canadian School of Performing Arts, and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
The six victims were students between the ages of 15 and 17 who attended the school between 1992 and 2013. Harima admitted that she used her position to lure and groom boys for sex.
Managed by the Calgary Stampede Foundation, the school hosts nightly grandstand shows during the Stampede.
Herrima was granted a one-day parole from a B.C. jail on the condition that he live at a halfway house in Calgary.
