The Resolution To Grant The Status Of An Independent Country To Palestine Was Approved By The Ndp

Canada Global(Web News) The resolution brought by the NDP to give Palestine the status of an independent country was passed in Parliament after a little struggle.

Liberals tried to modify it considerably. First, the Liberals signaled that they would not allow the opposition to tinker with their foreign policy. But the government’s Leader of the House, Steven MacKinnon, surprised all MPs when he carried the motion after the NDP amended parts of the motion in the final minutes of the debate.

The motion was debated for almost a day, but finally this symbolic NDP motion was passed by a vote of 204 to 117. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and almost all Liberal MPs and MPs from the NDP, Bloc Québécois, and Green Party voted in favor of the resolution, but Conservative leader Pierre Polivore and his party voted against the resolution.

The resolution said that the federal government should take nine steps. First call for a ceasefire, then release the captives. At the same time, trade in military equipment with Israel should be suspended and, more importantly, help stop the illegal supply of weapons to Hamas. The resolution also called for the government to follow up to stop the occupation of Palestinian territories.
At the same time, the Canadian government should increase the temporary resident visa limit by 1,000 people to help people trying to leave Gaza. At the same time, extremists should not be allowed to settle in Canada and should help maintain the existence of Israel and restore peace with its neighbors.
