The Number Of Temporary Immigrants Needs To Be Controlled, Justin Trudeau

Canada Global(Web News) Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says that the government wants to stop the number of temporary immigrants coming to the country, he says that the situation needs to be brought under control.

“In 2017, two percent of Canada’s population was made up of temporary immigrants. Now we have 7.5 percent of our population made up of temporary immigrants. This is something we need to get back under control,” he said.
The Prime Minister said this was causing mental health challenges for international students and that more businesses were relying on temporary foreign workers, driving down wages in some sectors.

Recall that Immigration Minister Mark Miller said on March 21 that Ottawa will set targets for temporary residents entering Canada to ensure “sustainable” growth in the number of temporary residents entering the country. Canada’s target for residents is 485,000 new immigrants, rising to 500,000 in both 2025 and 2026.
The prime minister said there are plans to reset the number of temporary admissions to Canada to ensure that That the system is sustainable.
