Canada Global(Web News)Earlier this year, the federal government announced that it will increase the wages of its workers by 65 cents or $17.30 an hour starting April 1. The increase is being made in line with the Justin Trudeau government’s promise to increase this level.
The change will benefit employees working in federally controlled industries such as international and interprovincial transportation, telecommunications, banking, postal and courier services. It will also benefit interns and workers under the age of 18.
Ontario’s minimum wage will increase by the end of this year. The provincial minimum wage is increased to $16·55 an hour in 2023. Doug Ford’s government announced plans to increase its annual minimum wage in October. The minimum wage in Canada is as follows:
Alberta: $15
British Columbia: $16.75
Manitoba: $15.30
