The Cordbridge Potato Chips Factory In Hartland Burned Down

Canada Global(Web News)Firefighters from several departments have come together to control a fire at the Cordbridge Potato Chips factory in Hartland, a major employer in the town of New Brunswick.

“We got a call at 6 p.m. and we got 20 to 30 employees out safely,”
said Summerville resident Kelly Gillen
. “They’re still putting water on it, I don’t know how many trucks, up to seven trying to put it out,” Kelly Gallen
said.
It’s a potato chip plant, it’s got nothing but grease and packaged potato chips. That’s what’s burning right now. It’s probably all the product and all the grease that was in there. It smelled like burnt grease.
The building is located near the local hospital off the Trans Canada Highway. Police are asking people to stay away from the area.

The cause is still under investigation, but firefighters suspect the facility is unsalvageable, Sharp said.
The company’s website says it was started by Matt and Ryan Albright in 2004 as a potato distribution company and expanded into potato chips in 2009. The site says it is a fourth-generation family farm. business, where more than 500 acres of potatoes are grown each.
