Imran Khan admits funding a housing project with Shaukat Khanum funds

Canada Global (Web News) Imran Khan, a former prime minister and the head of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, admitted on Saturday to diverting money from the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust (SKMT) to fund a private housing project, according to Express News.

The information was revealed during a hearing for a slander lawsuit of Rs10 billion brought against Defence Minister Khawaja Asif. Imran Khan used a video hookup to appear in court from his home in Lahore’s Zaman Park.

Judge Umeed Ali Baloch of the Additional Sessions heard the case. The attorneys for Asif and Imran were also present at the hearing.

Through a video link, Asif’s attorney Barrister Haider Rasul cross-examined Imran and questioned the PTI leader about the use of SKMT funds to invest in a private housing project.

Imran Khan acknowledged putting the money into the endeavour and said that the SKMT board had informed him of the investment. He claimed that, at the moment, he was unable to recall the project’s name.

The attorney enquired as to whether the board had given him written notice. Imran Khan answered by claiming he couldn’t recall if it was said or written down.

$3 million had been returned by the board members, according to the ousted prime minister, and the situation was resolved. To which Asif’s attorney said that the matter had just begun and wasn’t over yet.
