Not All Types Of Home Heating Will Be Exempt From Carbon Tax: Justin Trudeau

Canada Global(Web News)Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has made it clear that the federal government will not allow more exemptions or restrictions on the home heating oil tax.

Trudeau said the pollution charges would no longer be deferred. He said that just as we have phased out the use of coal, we want to phase out home heating oil. He said this is actually being done to eliminate the use of home heating oil, which causes more pollution, is more expensive and places a greater economic burden on low-income Canadians. Also clarified that it is futile to expect. Exemption for other types of home heating systems as no other type will be exempted from the carbon tax.

On his way to a cabinet meeting Tuesday morning, Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson was also asked several questions by reporters about the three-year moratorium on the federal carbon tax on home heating oil. Asked if more such exemptions would be granted, Wilkinson said there would not be.
