Special Ukrainian General Wants 83,000 Defunct Canadian Rockets

Canada Global(Web News)A Ukrainian military leader has demanded that Canada hand over tens of thousands of rockets that are waiting to be dismantled at a military base in Saskatchewan.

Lt. Gen. Kyrillo Budanov urged the government to allow Ukraine to keep inactive CRV7 rockets.

Lt. Gen. Budanov, head of Ukraine’s defense ministry’s intelligence directorate, said doing so would help Ukraine deter Russian forces.

“We hope it will be a win-win situation,” he said, adding that more than 83,000 CRV7 land attack rockets are stored at the Canadian Forces Ammunition Depot in Dundurn, south of Saskatoon.

Lt. Gen. Budanov said the CRV7 will be used in both Ukrainian attack helicopters and ground launchers to target Russian tanks and artillery.

Canadian officials said they were considering the request, but warned that the CRV7s are decades old and could be dangerous to handle and transport.
