Canada Global(Web News) The newly elected chairman of NADRA told a Senate panel yesterday that some staff of NADRA and external elements are involved in issuing fake identity cards to foreigners. According to details, Lt Gen Munir Afsar appeared before the Senate Standing Committee on Interior for the first time, during which he said that illegal citizens become part of the local family by bribing their family members.
A meeting of the committee was held under the chairmanship of Senator Mohsin Aziz. Chairman NADRA said that action has been taken against the NADRA employees involved in issuing fake identity cards and around 84 officials have been suspended for their involvement in illegal activities.
He said that the processing analysis has revealed that generally foreign nationals try to become a part of Pakistani families by preparing documents through biometric verification of ID card holders.
Lt Gen Munir Afsar told the Senate committee that NADRA is continuously improving the verification process to issue identity cards only to genuine citizens and prevent foreigners from becoming part of Pakistani families.
While discussing the problems faced by Mehsud tribesmen in getting passports in Karachi, DG Passport and Immigration Mustafa Jamal Qazi said that no individual is discriminated against.
