Canada Global (Web News) One person was killed and six others were injured in a shooting at Florida State University (FSU) in the United States.

The university’s main campus is home to more than 42,000 students. A statement from nearby Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare said six people were taken to the hospital, one in critical condition and five in critical condition. The American Broadcasting Corporation reported that law enforcement agencies took the suspect into custody shortly after the shooting. Three weapons were also recovered from the scene, including one from the suspect, another from a nearby vehicle, and a shotgun found in the student union.
At present, no formal statement has been issued by police or relevant agencies on the incident. FBI Director Kash Patel said in a statement released on the social media platform “X” that he had been briefed on the shooting incident at FSU, and a team from the Jacksonville FBI Field Office is assisting local police. The incident is the latest in a series of deadly shootings at American educational institutions in recent years. It should be noted that in 2014, a former student opened fire in the FSU library, injuring two students and a staff member.
