Canada Global (Web News) Member of Parliament and former minister Paul Scully has apologized for his statement declaring certain parts of Tower Hamlets in London as “no go areas”. He said this on Monday while commenting on the subject of Islamophobia and the Prime Minister’s explanation in this regard. Along with Tower Hamlets, they also designated parts of Birmingham’s Sparta Hill as a Nogo area. However, on Tuesday, he said he regretted the language he used.
Paul Scully, a former minister for London and a former candidate for Mayor of London, said that there are areas in the country where small groups are the majority, which makes people feel uneasy in certain areas. An area may have whites, blacks, Muslims or other groups that influence the perception of the community. However, he said that his statement is completely inappropriate. At the very beginning of his interview, he called Lee Anderson MP’s stance on Mayor London outrageous and said that Lee Anderson should apologize for his behavior. A spokesman for Tower Hamlets Council described Mr Scully’s statement as “disappointing”.
The area is an example of how people of different backgrounds can live together, he said, adding that the area is one of the busiest places in the country for living, working and tourism. And in a recent survey, 87 percent of people said they live together. With a population of 310,000 people, 14% of those living in Tower Hamlets were born in the area, while 51% were born in England, followed by Bangladesh.
