Canada Global(Web News)Several hundred people gathered and protested in the city’s Rosemont neighborhood on Saturday afternoon to condemn the Quebec government’s controversial housing bill, Bill 31.

The demonstration was organized by tenants’ rights advocates who are criticizing the bill.
Bill 31 is still pending in Quebec’s National Assembly. The bill must be stopped to demand the government repeal the bill entirely.Organizations are
now calling for a rent freeze and demanding that housing Minister France Alain Duranso should resign.

Robin Black, spokesperson for the Valeray Tenants Association, said it was important to maintain that continuity.
“We have the biggest housing crisis in 30 years and we don’t seem to have a minister who actually seems genuinely concerned about how people are suffering from a lack of housing and rent,” Black added
. Tenants’ rights activists say it’s the first bill in 45 years that takes away rights from tenants.

Dussault said the bill would not solve evictions but would worsen the situation for tenants in Quebec.
