Mohammad Azharuddin has expressed deep disappointment and anger over the decision to remove his name from the stand at the Hyderabad Cricket Association Stadium. He has termed the move as an insult to cricket and has appealed to the Indian Cricket Board to intervene. Speaking to Indian media, Azharuddin said that it pains me to say that I regret playing cricket. It hurts my heart to see people who know nothing or understand very little about the game, but still hold administrative positions.” It may be noted that the former captain of the Indian cricket team and former president of the Hyderabad Cricket Association is accused of making biased decisions, which led to a conflict of interest as the president of the Hyderabad Cricket Association from 2019 to 2023. This allegation against Azharuddin was made by a local cricket club, after which the Hyderabad Cricket Association removed his name from the North Stand of the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The former Indian captain said that he will go to court against the decision. He also appealed to the BCCI to intervene in the matter.
