Nothing was clear about the situation inside the building until the report was filed. According to reports, a commando operation was underway to clear the area of militants.
Early reports claimed that an outside attack had place on the CTD police station in Bannu. Later, it was claimed that nothing of the such had occurred and that one of the militants in custody had instead taken a weapon from an interrogator and freed other guys, who then took over and kept the CTD police officers hostage.
One of the hostages named as Khurshid was presented to the public in an injured state in a video that the captives also shared.
