Adnan Polat, owner of Gold Rush Jewelers, said he decided to close his store in Maple Ridge and find a new location because of rampant drug use, threats and street crime.
“Every day I have to call (security) at least four to five times,” he said. This is a bad situation. I (tell them) please move, they do drugs and don’t want to interfere. Most of them do not listen to me and argue with me threatening, ‘I will break your window.
According to Polat, constant robberies and petty crimes are affecting its customers and costing them money as a result.
“There is no way to do business here,” he said
