Iran claims to have developed a hypersonic missile.

Canada Global (Web News) According to General Amirali Hajizadeh, head of the Revolutionary Guards aerospace division, Iran has created a hypersonic missile that can penetrate any defence systems.

Like conventional ballistic missiles that are capable of carrying nuclear warheads, hypersonic missiles can travel at speeds greater than five times the speed of sound.

The general predicted that it would take decades for a system to be created that could intercept it, adding that it would be able to penetrate all anti-missile defence systems.

Days earlier, Iran had acknowledged supplying drones to Russia, but had maintained that it had not done so since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Iran denied the claim that it was ready to send missiles to Russia, which was made public by The Washington Post on October 16.

Hypersonic missiles, in contrast to ballistic missiles, fly on a low-altitude trajectory, possibly reaching targets more swiftly.

After testing a hypersonic missile last year, North Korea raised questions about a possible race to develop the technology.

A hypersonic missile may manoeuvre, making it more difficult to track and counter.
