Canada Global (Web News) Rana Sanaullah, the federal interior minister, stated on Monday that if PTI leader Imran Khan kept acting the way he did, elections might not even be held on October 8.
The minister had earlier asserted that the National Assembly would dissolve on August 12 or 16 and elections would be held on October 8 under a caretaker regime. Despite the SC’s order to hold polls in Punjab on May 14 and the ECP’s subsequent decision to hold elections, he had nevertheless made this statement.
Speaking to a private TV, he claimed that problems would have been handled if Mr. Khan had discussed them with us.
In the future, any party may seek elections after dissolving assemblies if we succumb to the PTI chief’s behaviour, he continued.
The minister stated that it was the duty of the Supreme Court (SC) to uphold the constitution, and suggested that NA Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf speak with CJP Umar Ata Bandial. We don’t anticipate CJP Bandial to be obstinate, he continued.
He mockingly suggested that the court ought to call the entire parliament and invalidate it. “Funds will not be granted,” he continued, “if the parliament rejects the bill to provide funding to the ECP for Punjab elections.”
Mr. Sana continued by asserting that the parliament did not have the right to interfere and that the Supreme Court did not even have the authority to overturn. He continued, “If the court does so, it will be equivalent to abrogating the constitution.”
The Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Bill 2023 was not authorised to be sent to the highest court, according to President Dr. Arif Alvi.
