Government’s decision to give iPhone installments from January 12

Canada Global(Web News) The caretaker government has decided to give iPhones on installments from January 12.

Caretaker Federal Minister for Information Technology Dr. Umar Saif says the government has addressed the long-standing demand of freelancers and enabled them to channelize remittances through international gateway PayPal.

He announced that 5G will be launched in July next year, and 300 MHz of spectrum will be put up for auction.

Caretaker Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Dr Umar Saif while talking to reporters said that the Cabinet has approved the National Space Policy to allow private sector companies to use low orbit satellites in space.

In response to a question, Dr. Saif further informed that his ministry in collaboration with all other stakeholders of telecom companies will launch another initiative from January 12, 2024 under which consumers will get latest model phones on easy installments. It plans to offer the iPhone in installments. In case of failure to pay the installment, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) will block the handset on the basis of Device Identification, Registration and Blocking Systems (DIRBS).

Responding to a question, the caretaker federal minister for IT said that the aim is to encourage responsible financial behavior and ensure that smartphone penetration continues to expand. Under this policy, telecom companies will have the opportunity to offer smartphones directly to consumers through installment plans, thereby expanding the benefits of mobile broadband in Pakistan, especially to the low-income segments.
