Canada Global (Web News) The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has published a notification setting the retail price of sugar at Rs98.82 per kilogramme based on the Advisory Board’s proposal.
The retail price of sugar has been set nationwide at Rs98.82, per a statement from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture. Sales tax of Rs14.58 would be included in the sugar price. In addition to the distributors’ margin of 25 paisa and the sugar mills’ profit of Rs5.30 per kilogramme, the price of sugar includes some other costs as well.
According to the announcement, the final price will also include the transit cost of Rs 2 per kg in addition to the retailer’s profit of Rs 1 per kg. Sugar’s market price jumped by 30% as a result of the lack of price regulation.
According to ministry officials, the district government would have to sell sugar at set pricing.
While the open market price for sugar was Rs130 per kg, residents stated that even in huge supermarkets, it was being offered for Rs125 per kg.
