Four Hockey Players Will Surrender On Charges Of Sexual Abuse

Canada Global(Web News)Lawyers for four NHL players have confirmed that their clients are among the five players who were accused of sexual assault. This incident concerns members of Canada’s 2018 World Junior Hockey Team.

The four players discussed here are Michael McLeod and Cal Foote of the New Jersey Devils, Carter Hart of the Philadelphia Flyers and Dillon Dobb of the Calgary Flames. The players are expected to turn themselves in to police before next Monday. Last week, the Globe and Mail reported that five members of Canada’s 2018 world junior hockey team will face sexual assault charges.

It is worth noting that a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by these five players in a hotel room after a Hockey Canada event in June 2018. In 2022, a woman whose identity was released as E·M filed a $3·35 million lawsuit against Hockey Canada and eight players on the 2018 World Junior team. She alleged that she was repeatedly sexually assaulted while drunk in a hotel room in London, Ontario. So far these allegations could not be proved before the court.

The first of the five players to surrender was Alex Formentel of the Ottawa Senators. He has taken an indefinite leave from his current team. He surrendered before the police on Sunday. His legal counsel said that he will maintain his innocence in the case.
