Canada Global(Web News) Ontario Premier Doug Ford expressed his willingness to take tough action against violent crimes and car thieves. He promised that those guilty of such crimes would be given maximum prison sentences.

Speaking at a news conference in Aurora, Ont., on Wednesday, Ford cited Canada’s new bail reforms and warned those involved in criminal activity. He said that the police and the government will not spare such criminals. Canadian Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc was also present with Prime Minister Ford at the news conference. Meanwhile, LeBlanc also announced a $121 million investment from the federal government to curb gun and gang violence in Ontario.

It is not yet clear where the money will be spent, but officials say it will help curb crimes such as car theft. The money is part of $390 million released by the Trudeau government to reduce crimes like gang and gun violence across the country. On the other hand, the Attorney General of Canada said that he is ready to review the criminal code and if there is a need to impose harsher sentences, he will do so.
