Crombie Won The Ontario Liberal Party Leadership Race

Canada Global(Web News)Bonnie Crombie, former MP and three-time mayor of Mississauga, has been elected as the new leader of the Ontario Liberals. Crombie says she will go head-to-head with Premier Doug Ford in the next provincial election.

After losing two provincial elections, Crombie has now been handed the reins of the party by the Liberals. “There’s a lot of work to be done between now and the 2026 campaign and it’s going to take hard work,” Crombie said. Will fight. I will breathe in the government.

Crombie defeated Liberal MP Nate Erskine Smith, Liberal MP and former provincial cabinet minister Yasser Naqvi and former Liberal MP and current provincial caucus member Ted Sow. The poll suggests the Liberal Party could do well against the Conservatives in the next election if Crombie is given the reins of the party over other Liberal leadership candidates.

Crombie is being touted by the Tories as a leader who listens to the rich and will raise taxes, while the NDP says there is no difference between Ford and Crombie. To this, Crombie said that both opposition parties seem to be afraid of their choice of leader and they should be. Crombie was elected mayor of Mississauga in 2014, before that she was a city councilor and before that she led Mississauga as an MP for the Liberals.
