Canada Global (Web News) Danushka Gunathilaka, a cricket player for Sri Lanka, will go on trial for rape following an alleged event that allegedly took place when he was in Australia for the Twenty20 World Cup last year.
Three of the four sexual assault allegations against the 32-year-old, who was dismissed from Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) shortly after his detention in November of last year, were dropped last month.
On Thursday, Gunathilaka pleaded not guilty to the last allegation of engaging in sexual activity without consent in a Sydney local court, according to the Australian Associated Press (AAP).
The top order batsman, who has more than 100 international appearances to his name across all forms, also tried to have his bail requirements changed so he would only need to show up at the police three times a week as opposed to daily, according to AAP.
